This handmade, handpainted, light is all thing's Cornish. It was inspired by Bodmin Moor, and all the old tin mines and engine houses scattered across Cornwall. It has 3 different painted Tin Mine scenes on each side. This particular light was inspired by the areas of Bodmin Moor very near where I live. I headed up there one day, with my trusty 4 legged sidekick, to sketch out 3 particular sets of ruins. The glass bottle itself is really beautiful, and a lovely shape. It is flat to the front and rear, and has concave sides, which give it a beautiful curvaceous shape. I have glazed the bottle, and then painted the scenes onto the 3 sections, using a delicate sunset sky behind each set of ruins. This gives a beautiful effect, and it is a thing of beauty in the daylight. But at night when you turn it on, it really comes into its own! It is just beautiful (and I have seriously contemplated keeping it!) I have wired it with 100, warm white, super low energy, LED firefly lights, that have a remote control to operate them. The plug is a USB fitting, which means not only can it be plugged into any USB plug or socket (I advise my customers to use any old phone charger plugs they have laying around) but it is also suitable for use in campervans, caravans, boats etc; and can even be powered by a good quality power bank. This is upcycled, eco friendly lighting at its best. There will only ever be one of these lights, I may make more tin mines, but this is unique. If you love Cornwall, then this is the light for you. It would also be the perfect gift for a Cornwall lover, or a treasured reminder of home for someone who has moved away. It's quite diminutive in size at 20cms high and 20cms width/depth, and would be perfectly situated on an occasional table or shelf, in any room in the house.
